God recounts to Israel her history and His love toward her. She was abandoned and the Lord took her and cleaned her up and anointed her with oil. She became beautiful because of the work the Lord did, and entered into covenant with God. However she played the harlot, looking for fulfillment outside of what the Lord had for her. And the consequences are deadly.
