Matthew chapters 1 and 2 introduce Jesus Christ as the promised King and Savior, tracing His genealogy from Abraham and David and revealing His miraculous birth through the Holy Spirit. In contrast to the first Adam, who represented fallen humanity and brought sin and death into the world through his disobedience, Jesus is the second Adam, who came to bring righteousness and life through His perfect obedience. From His birth in Bethlehem to His preservation from Herod’s wrath and return from Egypt, Matthew presents Jesus as the promised Messiah—the true King who succeeds where Adam and Israel failed and fulfills God’s plan of redemption.
